1995~2008
When the school was founded in 1995, the colors red, green and blue on the School Crest represented the three founding principles of our school. The circular shape of the emblem was chosen because of its symbol for the global village. The dolphin was placed in the middle, representing the international perspective that Cornell graduates would have because of their English language ability.
2009~Current
Following the establishment of the Junior high and Elementary school departments in 2009, the school crest has slowly evolved over the years to its current form. The first letter “C” is shaped like a wave as a way of representing the Ocean, which is the giver of all life symbolically. The infinite expanse of the ocean also serves to represent a never ending learning process throughout life. While the ocean reminds us to treasure our precious biosphere and its resources, the dolphin then becomes a fitting symbol of children taking control of their own fate as they symbolically surf on the ocean’s surface like dolphins. Cornell’s students ‘surf’ through the ocean, so to speak, as they navigate life itself in all its glory and wonders.
Our Mascot
A dolphin has keen senses, possesses hyper-intelligence, and is an avid team-player with a mild disposition. Cornell Bilingual School is honored to have the dolphin as our school’s mascot. We anticipate our students to be able to navigate the perilous, ever-changing oceans with ease and confidence, while holding on to mental acuity and wisdom. We believe students will reach their full potential by learning in a team-based environment, while learning to overcome tough challenges.
