Elementary & Junior High School Overview


In keeping with academic continuity

students who enter the Elementary department will receive the same bilingual learning environment afforded by our kindergarten. A comprehensive Mandarin and English program will be simultaneously administered to students. This is implemented to achieve balance for a well-rounded Elementary school education. Mandatory courses such as Art, Physical Education, systems programming, and clubs will ensure students not only learn academically, but also thrive in other non-academic areas.

Student must be between the ages of 6 and 12 in order to enroll in elementary school. Cornell provides instruction from grades 1 to 6.

The academic year is divided into two semesters.
•    First Semester : From August 1 to January 31.
•    Second Semester : From February 1 to July 31.
•    Winter break: From January 21 to February 10.
•    Summer break: From July 1 to August 29.

The admissions application for the 2025-26 school year will open on Friday, January 24, 2025, and close on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 5:00 pm.

During the Junior high school phase, it is imperative to establish a firm foundation for basic academic learning. As the number of lessons increase, the classrooms have been modified to take an ‘adjustable’ approach, where desks and chairs are equipped to be height-adjusted, and personal belongings can be kept in individual bookshelves. This not only serves to facilitate learning, but also foster a healthier learning environment. Classrooms in Cornell are also theme-based, which immerses students in an all-encompassing learning experience. An indoor gym area assures that students have access to physical fitness lessons irregardless of weather conditions.

A key stage in the mental and physical development of a child

Junior high school plays a critical role in the moral up building of a student’s character. Thus, a stable environment coupled with a moral sense of right and wrong are essential components that propel students of this age to future success in life. With this in mind, smaller classrooms with fewer students are implemented to ensure that students receive the most resources available to them.
